New Work: Linlithgow Chorale

I am very excited to announce the Grade 1½ Linlithgow Chorale as the newest addition to my catalogue.

This is my first piece for band in about five years, and it was wonderful to get back into composing for winds! I thought I would start with something that was manageable to write as well as to play. (Good for morale, you know.) My hope is that it will find a home in many concert programs for young bands, and perhaps serve as a warm-up for experienced ensembles.

I also have a few special plans in mind for it, so stay tuned...

The writing reflects my growing belief that everybody in a group should be given something interesting to contribute to the music. Top lines, basses, and inner voices all get starring roles at various points. But it must also be remembered that there are few things in music more beautiful than a well-formed whole note (semibreve), so all parts get a share of those, as well.

Please have a listen and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
